The Drauwl are a hardy short and stocky humanoid race with dark shades of skin varying from brick red to Ebony or even pitch black. The Drauwl have a very unique molecular structure in their bones that causes each individual to have a specific type of precious stone grow from their skeleton and protrude from various points in their body. Many drauwl have these gems growing in their facial features generally where facial hair would be as well as around the shoulders, thighs, knees and elbows. Drauwl generally gain these features at an early adult age where they will protrude up to one centimeter in length from the skin. As they grow older this protrusion often increases to several inches, and at times even just over a foot from the shoulders, thus requiring specially tailored clothing and armor to fit each individual's unique growth of crystalline structures. Commonly seen stones in Drauwl are Garnet, Amethyst, Emerald, Diamond, and on rare occasion Obsidian. There have been times where Drauwl have been poached for the precious stones in their body however it did not last for very long as it was discovered that the stones deteriorate over the course of a year and become valueless dust, due to them being partially organic material that requires blood flow from the drauwl's body. Because of this many of the Drauwl harbor harsh feelings towards some of the other races of Auldrun.
Although there are few Drauwl that populate the surface lands of Terre and Amarath, Most of the vast Drauwl population either lives in the farthest reaches of the mountains at their highest peaks or holed up in deep subterranean cities. The vast tunnels that branch into the mountains of Terre's mantle from Ralgur's hall is home to hundreds of thousands of drauwl, many of which mine precious metals and forge some of the strongest weapons and armor in the land, while others live in Mt. Golag in Amarath. Drauwl males stand at 3'8" to 4'5" while females stand at 3'5" to 4'2". Both males and females generally weigh in anywhere from 250 to a whopping 1000 lbs depending on the stones growing from their body.
